"Words"

From my sketchbook

Mixed Media on paper

This painting reminds me of how I often feel.

Words and words and words all around me,

Sometimes guiding me,

sometimes driving me crazy.

Sometimes I find them impossible to turn off,

especially when they are beating me down.

I try relaxing,

eating,

watching TV.

Then I remember,

and pick up a paintbrush,

and feel the paint glide across the canvas,

the color washing around me,

and once again there is peace,

and calm,

and I can start again.
